Family Office Networks exists to inform the family-office community with reporting it can trust. These standards describe how our editorial team works and how we keep our journalism independent of our commercial activities.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made by our editorial team alone. Advertisers, sponsors, members, and event partners do not influence which stories we cover or the conclusions we reach. Commercial relationships never buy favorable coverage.
Accuracy & fairness
- We verify facts before publication and seek to represent each subject fairly.
- We give individuals and organizations a reasonable opportunity to respond to significant claims about them.
- We distinguish clearly between reporting, analysis, and opinion.
Sourcing
We prefer named, on-the-record sources and primary documents. Because much of the family-office world is private, we sometimes rely on background or anonymous sources — but only when the information is in the public interest, we have corroboration, and we understand the source’s motivation. Direct quotations are presented accurately and in context.
Sponsorship, advertising & disclosure
We label commercial content plainly. Sponsorship, paid placement, advertising, and any FON business interest relevant to a story are disclosed at the top of the piece where they apply. Sponsored or branded content is identified as such and is not presented as independent editorial.
Conflicts of interest
Our editorial team discloses and recuses itself from coverage where a personal or financial conflict could compromise independence. Membership in the FON+ network does not entitle anyone to coverage.
Surveys & statistics
Our surveys and the FON+ Statistics Memo report aggregated, de-identified data. We describe our methodology and sample where relevant, and we do not attribute responses to identifiable individuals.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix it promptly and transparently, noting significant corrections on the affected piece. If you believe we have published an error, please tell us.
