Draft for review. This policy is a starting template for Family Office Networks. Please have legal counsel review it and complete the bracketed items (legal entity, governing jurisdiction, contact addresses) before publishing.
Family Office Networks (“FON,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates fon.network and the related newsletters, the FON Magazine, FON video, surveys, the FON+ membership, and our events. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Contact & subscription details — your name, email address, and preferences when you subscribe to a newsletter, create an account, or register for an event.
- Membership & application data — information you provide when applying for or maintaining a FON+ membership (e.g., role, organization type, and the details requested in the application).
- Payment information — when you purchase a membership, payments are processed by our payment provider (e.g., Stripe). We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
- Communications — messages you send us (support, editorial submissions, event RSVPs).
Information collected automatically
- Usage & device data — pages viewed, referring URLs, browser/device type, and similar analytics data.
- Cookies & similar technologies — used to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and measure engagement. See “Cookies” below.
2. How we use your information
- To deliver the newsletters, content, membership, surveys, and events you request.
- To operate, secure, and improve the website and our services.
- To process membership payments and manage your account.
- To communicate with you about your subscription, membership, events, and editorial.
- To produce aggregate, de-identified statistics (for example, the FON+ Statistics Memo). These never identify you individually.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
3. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:
- With service providers who work on our behalf (e.g., email delivery, payment processing, hosting, analytics), under contracts that limit their use of your data.
- For legal reasons — to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, or protect our rights, users, and the public.
- In a business transfer — if FON is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
- With your consent — for anything else.
4. Third-party services & embedded content
Some pages include content or tools from third parties, which may collect data under their own privacy policies, including: our payment provider (Stripe), embedded YouTube videos, and event photo galleries served via SmugMug. We encourage you to review their policies.
5. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to run the site, remember your preferences, and understand usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may affect site functionality.
6. Your choices & rights
- Email preferences — every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link; you can opt out at any time.
- Access, correction & deletion — you may request a copy of, correction to, or deletion of your personal information.
- Regional rights — depending on where you live (e.g., the EU/UK under GDPR or California under the CCPA/CPRA), you may have additional rights, including the right to opt out of certain processing. We honor applicable rights.
To exercise any of these, contact us at privacy@familyofficenetworks.com.
7. Data retention & security
We retain personal information for as long as needed to provide our services and for legitimate legal, accounting, or reporting purposes. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, though no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
8. Children
Our services are intended for professionals and are not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. International users
FON is operated from the United States. If you access our services from outside the U.S., you understand your information may be processed in the U.S. and other countries.
